Statement on appointment of Nancy Schlichting to MSU Board of Trustees

We are pleased to welcome the newest addition to the MSU Board of Trustees, Nancy Schlichting. We appreciate Governor Rick Snyder quickly appointing a new board member so we can head into 2019 with full membership.

Schlichting's experience leading a major health system through dramatic financial turnaround and achieving national recognition for initiatives in patient safety, customer service and diversity, make her a great addition to the board. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated unconventional leadership and courage. These characteristics will be an important asset as the Board continues to implement changes to create a safer campus.

Schlichting’s appointment is effective immediately. She succeeds George Perles, who resigned for health reasons at the end of November 2018. Schlichting will serve the remainder of Perles’ term, which expires in 2023.
